Kenyatta University (KU) has announced job opportunities for qualified candidates who seek to work as part-time lecturers.
In a notice dated March 17, Kenyatta University encouraged applicants with prior part-time teaching experience to apply.
“Kenyatta University seeks to recruit competent and dedicated applicants to fill the positions of part-time lecturers,” read part of the notice.
Qualifications and Requirements for Kenyatta University Part-Time Lecturers
The University seeks applicants who hold a Master’s degree in a relevant area of specialization from a recognized university.
Candidates should have a minimum of three years’ teaching experience at the university level, in research, or in industry.
Those with four years of experience in a tertiary institution will also be considered, and a PhD in a relevant field will be an added advantage.
Interested candidates are required to provide their specialization, academic credentials, work history, and current employment details.

How Lecturers Are Paid in Kenya
Public universities generally offer structured salary scales with additional allowances that enhance total compensation.
Graduate assistants and assistant lecturers earn between KSh 80,000 and 150,000 per month, while lecturers receive KSh 120,000 to 250,000.
Senior lecturers earn between KSh 150,000 and 300,000, while Associate Professors earn KSh 250,000 to 400,000.
On the other hand, Full Professors can earn over KSh 400,000, with allowances for housing, transport, research, and hardship, further increasing their total remuneration.
Under the the 2025-29 Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) prepared by the Universities Academic Staff Union (UASU), if phased out, will see the lowest-paid graduate assistant earn a basic salary of Ksh86,594, and the highest-paid professor take home Ksh580,144
