Despite the improved performance, the company remained loss-making, reporting a pre-tax loss of KSh 21.14 million. According to its half-year financial statement, the loss improved by 4.8 per cent compared with the same period in 2025.
“The Group recorded a pre-tax loss of KSh 21.14 million for the six months ended 30 June 2026, a 4.8% improvement compared to the same period in 2025,” the financial statement reported.
The company attributed part of its improved performance to increased tea production and stronger sales during the reporting period. Made-tea production rose by 14 per cent to 492 tonnes, marking the highest first-half output in the company’s records.

“Made tea production increased by 14% to 492 tonnes, the highest first-half production on record,” the financial statement stated.
The production increase supported revenue growth, although the company had not returned to profitability by the end of June 2026. Limuru Tea’s performance depends largely on tea production volumes and the prices achieved for its produce.
Limuru Tea Reports Lower Revenue in 2025
For the financial year ended December 31, 2025, Limuru Tea PLC reported revenue of KSh 131.01 million, down from KSh 144 million in 2024. The decline was attributed to lower tea auction prices in Mombasa and weak global demand.
“Turnover decreased by 9% to KSh 131.01 million (2024: KSh 144 million) mainly due to lower Mombasa auction prices and weak global demand,” the audited financial statement reported.
The company’s financial position also weakened in 2025, with its loss before tax increasing to KSh 50.02 million from KSh 10.63 million in 2024.
“Group recorded a loss before tax of KSh 50.02 million (2024: loss of KSh 10.63 million),” the audited results stated.
The contrasting results show that Limuru Tea improved its revenue, production and pre-tax loss position in the first half of 2026, following a difficult 2025 financial year.
