The Public Service Commission (PSC) has announced 4,000 internship vacancies (Cohort 1) in the Ministry of Lands, Public Works, Housing and Urban Development, specifically in the State Department for Housing and Urban Development.
On 22 July, PSC issued a notice inviting applications from degree and diploma graduates across 41 professional disciplines.
PSC aims to recruit 300 architects, 250 in construction management, and 180 in Health and Safety.
The Commission also declared 200 vacancies in positions such as Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, Quantity Surveying, and Realtors.
Additionally, 150 vacancies have been announced in three professional fields, including Environmental Practitioners, Communication and Branding, and Urban and Regional Planning.
Furthermore, there are 165 openings for graduates in Social Development.
Fields such as Land Surveying/Geo-Spatial, Landscape Architecture, and Valuers each have 100 vacancies.
The following categories each have 60 vacancies: Accountant, Architectural Assistant, Building Inspector, Civil Engineering Inspector, Electrical Inspector, Quantity Surveying Assistant, Legal, Structural Assistant, and Economics.
Positions with 50 vacancies include:
- Geoinformation.
- Interior Design.
- Digital Marketing.
- Data Entry Clerks.
- Financial Analysts.
- Supply Chain Management.
- Property Managers.
- Property Marketers.
There are three vacancies available for Data Analysts, Data Science/Artificial Intelligence, and Information Communication Technology (ICT).
Additionally, PSC advertised 30 vacancies each for the following roles: Inspector of Gas/Refrigeration, Gender and Development Studies, and Inspector Plumbing and Drainage.
There are 20 vacancies for Human Resource graduates and 5 for Actuarial Science.

PSC Requirements for Appointment
Candidates interested in an internship must possess:
- A Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in one of the mentioned disciplines from a recognised university.
- Graduation not earlier than 2018.
- Proficiency in computer skills.
Internship Duties and Responsibilities
Successful candidates will perform duties mutually agreed upon and assigned by their supervisors.
They will also document relevant skills obtained during their deployment in the Affordable Housing Programme.
Candidates are expected to promote project sites nationwide and participate actively in mentorship activities and other responsibilities tailored to the programme.

Duration and Stipend
The internship lasts for a period of twelve months and is non-renewable.
Interns will receive a stipend from the State Department for Housing and Urban Development, at a rate set by the Government.
Certificate
Upon successful completion, interns will be awarded a certificate by the State Department for Housing and Urban Development.
