Some 150,000 security officers will be deployed to maintain law and order during the for August 9 general elections.
Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai says the security personnel will be drawn from General and Administration police and General service unit.
Others will be drawn from Kenya Prisons Service, National Youth Service, Kenya Wildlife Service, and Kenya Forest Service.
According to the IG, the officers will provide security for Kenyans to cast their votes.
The offciers will also ensure citizens conduct their activities without fear of crime or harm.
Already, Formed Police Units (FPUS) under the National Police Service have been deployed across the country.
FPUS will offer tactical support to general duty officers before, during, and after the August general elections.
“Further, there is a provision for a deployment of five Airset in strategic locations to provide logistical air support ,” he said.
Additionally, to enhance seamless election exercise, the NPS has prepared and finalized a National Police Service Election Security Plan.
The plan seeks to provide critical input into Operation Orders and deployments plans by respective commands for the polls.
At the same time, NPS has established a National Election Security Command Center to handle all election security situational .
