With only 31 days to the August 9 polls, Deputy President William Ruto has claimed that President Uhuru Kenyatta turned down requests by bishops to reconcile them.
Speaking during a live town hall meeting on KTN News Ruto said he agreed when Bishops approached him, but his boss refused.
“When they came to me, I told them I want to have a chat with my boss, but he refused. He flatly refused,” Ruto said.
Uhuru and Ruto fell out in 2018, a year after they secured a second term to lead the nation.
Ruto has always blamed the handshake between Uhuru and Raila as the main cause of his fallout with his boss
At the same time Ruto dismissed claims of insulting the president in his campaign meetings.
“I have resisted as much as I could to respond to my boss,’’ he said.
He added “Many people say William Ruto has insulted Uhuru Kenyatta, but I never have’’.
Ruto said that he has suffered persecution in the government under the watch of his boss who did nothing.
The UDA party argued that it is his patience that has kept him going.
