Educational background of Jeremiah Kioni
Jeremiah attended Park Road Primary School from 1971 to 1977, earning his certificate in primary Education.
He later joined the University of Nairobi, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Land Economics between 1984 and 1987.
From 1988 to 1990, he undertook a Master of Arts Degree in Housing Administration. He studied and completed a Bachelor of Laws from 2002 to 2006 at the University of Nairobi School of Law.
Career
Jeremiah Kioni worked in the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Lands between 1987 and 1990, and in periods of private practice and self-employment before joining active politics.
He served as the Member of Parliament for Ndaragwa Constituency from 2008 to 2013 in the 10th parliament. During this time, he was a Member of the Defense and Foreign Affairs Committee and the Parliamentary Select Committee on the Constitution between 2008 and 2011, and he chaired the Parliamentary Select Committee on Unlawful Gangs from 2008 to 2010.
Additionally, he served on the Standing Orders Committee and the Powers and Privileges Committee throughout the entire 2008–2013 period.
He also served as the Secretary General of The National Alliance (TNA), the party that propelled Uhuru Kenyatta to the presidency in 2013.
In the 2013 election, Kioni was named vice president and running mate to Musalia Mudavadi of the United Democratic Forum (UDF) under the Amani coalition.
Kioni was formally elected as the Jubilee Party Secretary General in 2021, positioning him as a core custodian of the party’s constitution, strategy, and internal frameworks.
Jeremiah Kioni was re-elected as a Member of Parliament for Ndaragwa Constituency from 2017 up to 2022. In the 12th Parliament, he took on a major oversight role as Chairperson of the Constitutional Implementation Oversight Committee to monitor the adherence to the 2010 constitution`s implementation across government institutions.
Kioni lost his Ndaragwa member of parliament seat to George Gachagua of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA).
