Benard Ngeno, popularly known as Buluu, is a youthful leader from Emurua Dikirr in Narok County and the former personal assistant to the late Johana Ng’eno, who served as MP for the constituency for three terms.
After Johana Ng’eno died in a helicopter crash in Nandi County, Benard quickly became one of the main figures mentioned in the race for the Emurua Dikirr seat. He is now widely seen as the leading contender for the UDA party ticket ahead of the by-election.
Background and Education
Benard Ngeno comes from Emurua Dikirr and is often described as a “son of the soil” who grew up in the area.
Community leaders from Narok who support him say he understands the problems facing ordinary people because he has lived among them and worked closely with them. During his time as the late MP’s personal assistant, he served residents and handled constituency matters.

On the campaign trail, he has been active in wards such as Kipkandulit and Kapsasian, where he talks about peace, development, and continuing the work started by Johana Ng’eno, especially on land and community issues.
Benard went to Oreiyet Primary School, then Kipsuter Boys High School, before joining the University of Nairobi. His Supporters point to his journey from local schools to a renowned university as proof that he understands both village life and wider national issues.
Benard Ngeno Political Journey
Benard’s entry into politics came through his work as a personal assistant to the late Johana Ng’eno. In that role, he handled day-to-day constituency work, interacted directly with residents, and learned about key local issues, including development, land use, and representation.
Benard Ngeno initially took time to mourn his former boss after his death before stepping forward, and since then, his influence has grown.
Other aspirants, including Ezra Sawe and Bernard Rono, both from the Narok County Government, withdrew from the race after consultations and chose to support him.
The late MP’s widow, Naiyanoi Ng’eno, had also initially expressed interest in the Emurua Dikirr seat.
Naiyanoi Ng’eno later stepped down after discussions with her family, who said she was not in a position to continue with a demanding campaign so soon after the death of her husband, the late MP Johana Ng’eno.
Benard’s supporters in Emurua Dikirr have described him as energetic, approachable, and focused on unity and fairness in the constituency.
Close allies of the late MP, including Ezra Sawe and Bernard Rono, see him as the natural person to continue Ng’eno’s work.
Bernard Ngeno has received support from Kipsigis elders, members of the late MP’s inner circle, and residents who came together behind him after other aspirants stepped aside.
Speaking to the Daily Nation, Ezra Sawe said voters had called on aspirants to unite behind one candidate to form a strong voting bloc, adding:
“I have shelved my ambitions to be the MP for the area and have backed Mr Ng’eno, whom we believe has the ability to take forward the agenda started by our former legislator, with our full support.”
