Gideon Mutemi Mulyungi is a Kenyan Politician and the Member of Parliament for Mwingi Central Constituency in Kitui County.
Early life and educational background
Gideon Mutemi began his education in 1974 at Kalisali Primary School, where he completed his Certificate of Primary Education (CPE) in 1980.
He then attended St. Charles Lwanga School from 1981 to 1984 for his O-Level certificate, followed by St. Patrick’s Iten from 1985 to 1986 for his A-Level certificate.
In 1987, he joined the University of Nairobi, graduating in 1992 with a Bachelor of Architecture and later pursued a Master of Business Administration (MBA) at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) from 2014 to 2015.
In 2016, he received an Honorary Doctorate in Organizational Leadership from United Graduation College
Career
Professional career
Gideon Mutemi began his professional career in 1993 as a Director at Tectura International, serving until 2005.
In 2006, he became Managing Director and Chairman of Tectonics International, an architectural consulting firm he founded.

Between 2008 and 2011, he served as Works Secretary in the Ministry of Public Works, and from 2012 to 2013, he was promoted to Permanent Secretary in the same ministry, appointed by President Mwai Kibaki.
He also chaired the Board of Registration of Architects and Quantity Surveyors of Kenya from 2009, overseeing professional standards in the built environment.
Mutemi is a Fellow of the Architectural Association of Kenya, a Corporate Member of the Architects Association of Tanzania, and a registered Environmental Impact Assessment Lead Expert with NEMA.
Political Career
In 2015, Gideon Mulyungi was appointed Executive Director of the Wiper Democratic Movement.
He entered elective politics in 2017, winning the Mwingi Central parliamentary seat under the Wiper ticket. He was re-elected in 2022, serving his second term in the 13th Parliament.
