John Mutunga is a Kenyan politician and a current Member of Parliament for Tigania West Constituency in Meru County.
Mutunga was born in Kianjai ward of Tigania West constituency
He is also the Chairperson of the Parliamentary Agriculture and Livestock Committee.
Educational background of John Mutunga
In 1971, he attended Mutonjuri Primary School for his Certificate of Primary Education (CPE) and later, from 1978 to 1981, moved to Chogoria Boys High School for his Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).
Between 1982 and 1983, John Mutunga attended Nyeri High School for his Kenya Advanced Certificate of Education (KACE).
He joined the University of Nairobi in 1985 to take a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture and he graduated in 1988.
Between 2001 and 2003, he went back to the University of Nairobi to study for a Master of Arts in Development Sociology.
Later in 2004, he joined Kenyatta University to pursue a PhD in Environmental Science.
John Mutunga Career
In 1988, John Mutunga joined the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock as a Livestock Officer II APO II and in 1991, he got another job at the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock as an Extension Coordinator APO I.
From 1996 to 2001, while still at the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock, he was promoted to District Livestock Officer.
In 2001 to 2004, KENFO/KENFAP employed him as a Program Coordinator. From 2004 to 2016, at KENFAP/ KENAP he was appointed Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
Between 2005 and 2017, he worked at BESCK Holdings Ltd as an Executive Director.
As of now, he works at the Departmental Committee on Agriculture and Livestock, and he is also a member of the Budget and Appropriations Committee.
