KENNEDY KAUNDA ABUGA

Kennedy Kaunda is a Kenyan advocate who was shortlisted for the position of member of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).

He appeared before the IEBC Selection Panel, chaired by Dr. Nelson Makanda, on April 11, 2025.

Kaunda graduated in 2017 with a Global Executive Master of Business Administration Degree from the United States International University.

He holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law, which he earned in 1990.

Moreover, he completed a Bachelor of Laws Degree from the University of Nairobi in 1989 and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Financial Services from the University of Manchester’s Institute of Science and Technology in the United Kingdom in 2002.

Career Background

Since 2008 he has been working as General Counsel, Bank Secretary and Director, Governor’s Office at the Central Bank of Kenya.

Prior to that, he worked as an Assistant Director, Head of Legal Services at the Central Bank of Kenya from 2005 to 2008.

He has also worked as a Senior Legal Manager at the Co-operative Bank of Kenya Limited between 1994 to 2005.

Kauda started as a Legal Counsel at Salim Dhanji and Company Advocates from 1990 to 1994.
