The Selection Panel for the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) has shortlisted 13 candidates for the Chairperson position and 98 for Member roles in the ongoing reconstitution of the commission.
In a statement on February 20, the panel chair, Reuben Chirchir, said a total of 79 people applied for the Chairperson position, while 640 individuals sought appointment as NCIC Members before the February 13, 2026, deadline.
He noted that only candidates who met all constitutional, academic, and integrity requirements were shortlisted to proceed to the interview stage.
This recruitment follows the expiry of the previous commissioners’ six-year non-renewable terms, including the outgoing chairperson, Samuel Kobia, and seven other commissioners, whose tenure ended on November 17, 2025.
Shortlisted Candidates for Chairperson
The 13 shortlisted candidates for the Chairperson position are:

- Charity Kagwi-Ndung’u
- Kepha Nyamweya Omae

- Lul Abdiwahid
- Julius Yiega (PWD)
- Alice Atieno Otwala
- John O. Konchellah
- Betty Addero Radier

Shortlisted Candidates for Member Positions
From the 640 applicants for NCIC Member positions, 98 individuals were shortlisted. Those listed include Joseph K. Nguyo, Justine Anyango Ochieng, Elkana Kathie Nyaga, Ruth Jelagat Tubey, Lucy Wanja Julius, Nixon Gecheo Mageka, Margaret W. Naserian Gakami, Kauma Jim Gitonga, John Kibaso Warioba, and Jackson Swadi Kedogo, among others.
The outgoing commissioners, who assumed office on November 19, 2019, completed their single non‑renewable six‑year terms on November 17, 2025.
Chirchir announced that interviews will begin on March 2 and run through March 19, 2026.
The process will start with the chairperson’s candidates: six will be interviewed on March 2, and the remaining seven on March 3.
Interviews for member candidates will then take place from March 4 to March 19, with eight candidates being interviewed on the first and last days, and nine each day from March 5 to March 18.
Shortlisted candidates are required to bring originals of the following documents to the interview:
- National Identity Card
- Academic and professional certificates and transcripts
- Any other supporting documents and testimonials
- Valid and current clearances from the following bodies:
- Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA)
- Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC)
- Higher Education Loans Board (HELB)
- Any of the registered Credit Reference Bureaus (CRBs)
- Directorate of Criminal Investigations (Police Clearance Certificate)
- Letter of recognition of qualifications from the Commission for University Education (CUE) for any degree obtained from a foreign university
- Recommendations from relevant professional bodies (where applicable)
“The interviews will be conducted on the dates and times indicated at the Public Service Commission, Harambee Avenue, Nairobi. The candidates should be at the venue at least twenty minutes before the time,” said Reuben Chirchir.
Members of the public are invited to present any credible information on matters relating to any of the shortlisted candidates through sworn affidavits, via email, or by hand-delivering them to the Secretary/CEO, Public Service Commission.
