The Deputy Controller of Examinations at Minhaj University, Lahore, Pakistan, Mrs Sehrish Khan, has outlined the institution’s role in promoting education. In an interview, she said Minhaj University places particular emphasis on promoting religious tolerance, peace, interfaith harmony, and entrepreneurship.

Through its academic programs, research activities and community engagement, the university seeks to foster an environment where students develop respect for diverse religious, cultural and social perspectives. It encourages dialogue, mutual understanding and peaceful coexistence, contributing to the development of a more tolerant and harmonious society.

She said, “Minhaj University Lahore is a global place of interfaith dialogue, harmony and peace.”

Mrs. Sehrish Khan is an accomplished higher education professional with broad experience in academic administration, examination management, institutional coordination, and educational leadership.

Regarding the academic contributions of Minhaj University in global engagement, she stated that the establishment of the UNESCO Chair on Peace Education and Intercultural Dialogue at Minhaj University Lahore represents a significant milestone.

Professor Dr Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri was appointed as the Chair. The establishment of the Chair provides an opportunity to strengthen research, teaching, international academic cooperation and community engagement in areas connected with peace and intercultural understanding.

“In my view, this new responsibility is consistent with the broader journey of the university. The UNESCO Chair should not be regarded merely as an honor or distinction to be displayed. Rather, it should be understood as a responsibility to encourage serious scholarship, strengthen practical approaches to peace education and establish meaningful connections between Pakistani researchers and international academic networks.”

The M.Phil. in Theology and Religious Studies, offered through the School of Religion and Philosophy, is of particular importance.

The program provides an academic environment in which comparative religious studies, theology and questions concerning faith can be studied and researched. This approach helps Minhaj University graduates develop a deeper understanding.

Ethics, Technology and Global Responsibility

For this reason, universities have a responsibility to educate graduates who understand both the capabilities of technology and the responsibilities associated with its use.

Bringing contemporary knowledge together with moral and ethical development could therefore become one of Minhaj University’s most meaningful contributions to society.
