Biography
Stella Soi Lang’at was nominated as the Cabinet Secretary (CS) for the Ministry of Gender, Arts, and Culture, but her appointment was rejected by the National Assembly Committee on Appointments.
Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah, pointed out that the CS nominee also lacked requisite abilities and qualities to be approved for appointment as CS.
Education and Career
Langat’s professional journey began with her strong academic foundation from various prestigious institutions.
She holds a master’s degree in public administration (Executive) from Moi University and a bachelor’s degree in political science.
As such, these qualifications have equipped her with a deep understanding of governance and public administration, which she has consistently applied throughout her career.
Upon completing her studies, Lang’at began her career in the government, starting as an Under Secretary in the Office of the Attorney General from February 2014 to March 2015.
Consequently, this role provided her with invaluable experience in legal and administrative matters, laying the groundwork for her future success.
Other Roles Stella Soi Has Held
In March 2015, Lang’at took on a new challenge as the deputy commissioner for Bomet East, Sameta, and Mwingi Sub counties, where she served until February 2019.
During this period, she engaged in various administrative and developmental activities, contributing to the growth and stability of these regions.
Lang’at’s expertise in local governance was further showcased when she served as the county secretary in the county government of Bomet from April 2020 to October 2021.
Here, she played a major role in the management of administrative functions as well as ensuring smooth operations within the county.

Prior to her current position as the Director of Administration in the Ministry of Interior, Lang’at worked at the State Department of Housing and Urban Planning.
