Maureen Tabitha Mutinda is a Kenyan politician and a Nominated Senator under the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) representing women’s interests.
Early life and education
Maureen Tabitha Mutinda was born and raised in Athi River, Machakos County, as the eighth child in a family of nine.
She was brought up by a single mother, an experience she has often credited for instilling in her a strong sense of resilience and determination.
She began her early education at St. Paul’s Primary School, Athi River, in 1991, where she studied up to Standard Four.
In 1995, her family moved to Kitui County, and she transferred to Matinyani DEB Primary School, where she completed her Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) in 1999.
In 2000, Tabitha enrolled at St. Anne’s Girls High School in Embu County for her secondary education.
She excelled academically and actively participated in leadership activities, completing her Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) in 2003.
Driven by an interest in healthcare, she joined Kabete Technical Training College in 2004 to pursue a Diploma in Pharmacy, graduating in 2006.
Tabitha’s ambition later extended to management and leadership, leading her to enroll at the University of Nairobi in 2017 for a Master of Business Administration (MBA), specializing in Strategic Management.
She successfully completed the program and graduated in 2019.
Currently, Tabitha is pursuing a Doctorate (PhD) in Business Administration at the University of Nairobi, focusing on governance, leadership, and policy development to equip herself with advanced skills for public service and legislative work.

Professional career
Maureen Tabitha Mutinda began her professional journey shortly after completing her diploma in Pharmacy at Kabete Technical Training College in 2006.
She initially worked in the pharmaceutical sector, gaining hands-on experience in healthcare service delivery and business operations within the medical field.
In 2008, she transitioned into entrepreneurship, combining her pharmaceutical knowledge with business acumen.
Over the next several years, she successfully managed and grew several ventures, focusing on healthcare and related industries.
Her work during this period not only strengthened her managerial skills but also gave her practical insight into the challenges faced by small and medium-sized enterprises in Kenya.
Her leadership trajectory took a major step forward in 2017, when she became the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Novamont Kenya Ltd, a position she holds to date.
As CEO, Mutinda has been responsible for strategic planning, corporate governance, and stakeholder engagement.

Alongside her role in the private sector, Mutinda has been involved in civic and professional networks. She is a member of the World Scout Parliamentary Union – Kenya Chapter, where she works on youth empowerment and community development initiatives.
Political career
Maureen Tabitha Mutinda began her active political journey in the run-up to the 2022 General Election, aligning herself with the United Democratic Alliance (UDA).
On 16 August 2022, following the conclusion of the general election, she was officially sworn in as a Nominated Senator in the 13th Parliament of Kenya.
In the Senate, Tabitha was elected Vice Chairperson of the Finance and Budget Committee, a powerful committee tasked with overseeing national budget allocations and fiscal policy matters.
She also became an active member of several key Senate committees, including the Senate Business Committee, the Committee on Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, and the Committee on County Public Investment and Special Funds.
Her legislative work has been marked by sponsoring and supporting bills aimed at addressing economic growth, agriculture, and labor migration.
Notably, she sponsored the Agricultural and Livestock Extension Services Bill (Senate Bill No. 12 of 2022), which seeks to strengthen agricultural productivity through structured extension services for farmers.
