Biography
Dr. David Edward Owuor, a self-proclaimed prophet, is one of Kenya’s most prominent religious figures. Born in 1966 in Goma Village, Bondo, Owuor rose from humble beginnings to become the founder of the Repentance and Holiness Ministry in 2004.
Many of his followers believe he possesses supernatural powers, a claim that has fueled his influence and sparked debates across the nation.
Dr Owuor is known for his grand public rallies, unique all-white suit, and fiery calls for repentance, which have drawn thousands to his ministry.
His journey from a scientist to a religious leader has captivated and divided opinions among Kenyans and beyond.
David Owuor’s Education
Owuor began his education at Wambasa Primary School in Yimbo before transferring to Jusa Primary School in Siaya.
However, when his father’s work took the family to Uganda, he continued his studies at Luzira and later at Kitalya schools.
For secondary school, he attended Mbale Senior Secondary School for his O-levels and St. Peter’s College in Tororo for his A-levels.
He later enrolled at Makerere University in Uganda to pursue a Bachelor of Science degree. However, he eventually transferred to the University of Nairobi, where he graduated in 1988.
Further, Owuor went to Negev, Israel, where he joined Ben Gurion University and earned a Ph.D. in Molecular Genetics, also referred to as the “Science of the Future.”
Family
Born into a modest household, Owuor is the second-born in a family of nine children, six girls and three boys.

The prophet grew up in Goma village before the family relocated to Uganda.
Work
Before stepping into the public eye as a religious leader, Owuor led a quiet life as a scientist.
However, his life took a dramatic turn in the early 2000s when he began evangelism.
He started out as a door-to-door preacher in Nakuru and built his ministry from the ground up. His sermons were fiery, always ending with a call for repentance.
By 2004, he had formally established the Repentance and Holiness Ministry, which would go on to become one of Kenya’s most recognizable religious movements.
His followers view him as a prophet and miracle worker, while sceptics question his claims of divine encounters and supernatural abilities.
Despite the controversies, his influence continues to shape Kenya’s religious landscape.

Owuor’s lifestyle reflects the wealth he has, often funded by both local and international donors who support his ministry.
He is reported to own over 10 luxury cars, including a Mercedes S500 and a 2014 Range Rover.
Owuor once lived in the luxurious Dove Apartments in Westlands, Nairobi, a property worth approximately KSh 1.5 billion.
