3Men Army Receive Global Award After Winning Ksh32 M Pool Prize Competition

Podcast trio 3Men Army has received a global award for content creators introduced by leading Australian microphone and video accessory brand RØDE.

The trio, made up of Daniel Mungai alias Dante, Frankine, and Andrew Trevor, took to their social media account to share the milestone after receiving the RØDE Creator of the Year Awards, Video Podcast category.

RØDE announced a global competition last year featuring the awards to celebrate the next generation of content creators.

“First international award. Shukran wadau,” posted 3MenArmy while sharing photos of their award accompanied by a partner prize pack.

The RØDE Creator of The Year Awards covers a diverse range of creators across video-sharing platforms YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok.

Anyone using a RØDE product with a channel or account on the three platforms was eligible to enter the competition with the awards covering 22 content categories.

The Creator of the Year Award is worth $20,000 in cash and over $30,000 in prizes.

“Celebrating creators is part of our DNA. For years, the My RØDE Reel competition shone a light on the incredible work of filmmakers and was, in fact, the world’s largest short film competition. We did the same for podcasters with the My RØDE Cast competition, giving them a global platform to share their work,” said RØDE’s CEO, Damien Wilson when announcing the launch of the competition last year.

“Now, with the RØDE Creator of the Year Awards, RØDE and its partners are celebrating a new generation of creators – giving back to a community that inspires the world.”

RØDE had announced that for the various Category Awards, each winner would get $5,000 in cash and a partner prize pack.

Likewise, the People’s Choice Awards winners would also receive $5,000 in cash and a partner prize pack.

Alongside the major Creator of The Year Award, the company introduced an Emerging Creator of the Year Award to promote the efforts of up-and-coming content creators, especially those who have started their channel in the last year.

Emerging Creator of the Year Award received $10,000 in cash and over $30,000 in prizes.

Rise of 3Men Army

3Men Army has three members; Dante, Frank and Trevor who first met in 2016.

In an interview with Oga Obinna last year, the trio revealed how they met back while they were volunteering for different activities at Good News Mission Church.

The church required everyone to sit in groups before they could serve food. Dante and Trevor discovered they both had a mutual penchant for roasting other people in the congregation.

This sparked a connection between them as they bonded over a shared sense of humor and playful teasing.

“I used to teach Trevor how to dance, while we were interacting for dance lessons, I realized Trevor used to roast other people in the church and I liked that.

On the other hand, Franky noticed how hungry I used to look and would call me for extra leftovers in the church. That’s how we started bonding,” Dante explained.

The trio has made a significant impact in the comedy industry, captivating audiences with their unparalleled sense of humor.

Dante, Frank and Trevor would later join NRG Radio where they currently work as radio presenters.

Thier podcast, the 97s Podcast, was set up in 2019 and currently boasts of 237,000 subscribers on You Tube with most of the episodes averaging more than 100,000 views each.

The 97s podcast is also available on streaming platform Spotify.
