Taking to his Instagram stories, he stated they are still in communication with Mbosso on how he will exit the label and become an independent artist.
“We have had a great conversation with Mbosso on how he will officially begin his work independently, and we have concluded that conversation very well,” stated Diamond.

On January 30, 2025, a close friend of Diamond, Baba Levo, announced Mbosso’s departure from Wasafi. He stated that the artist would be allowed to leave the label without any financial requirements.
He also stated that nine new artists would be signed in 2025, after Mbosso’s departure.
“Out of the great respect that Mbosso has for Diamond and the leaders of Wasafi Records, Diamond has opened the doors to Mbosso to go out and explore as an independent artist. Nine new artists are set to be signed in 2025,” stated Baba Levo.
Notable artists signed under Wasafi
Mbosso’s music career has flourished significantly since he joined the record label in 2018 after exiting the Yamoto Band. Through his songs ‘Hodari‘, ‘Tamu’, and ‘Tamba’, Mbosso became a household name in the Bongo genre in East Africa.
The ‘Hodari’ hitmaker had earlier stated that he had no intention of leaving the record label any soon.
He however stated that should it come to it, he would like to leave Wasafi while on good terms with everyone.

“If I am to leave Wasafi Diamond and the other leaders will tell me so, I want to leave at a place where I have no bad blood with anyone,” stated Mbosso in an interview.
Other notable artists signed under Wasafi include Lava Lava, signed in 2017, Zuchu, signed in 2020, and D Voice, signed in 2023. Diamond did not comment on signing new artists this year, as Baba Levo stated.
