A man from Bungoma has become a local “ugali ace” after winning an eating competition by consuming a heap of maize ugali.
Tony Wamalwa devoured a 2kg packet of ugali in just 35 minutes, a feat that would typically last someone a few days. Anthony Nyongesa, his opponent, could not match Wamalwa’s speed in the eating contest.

The eating competition also featured 2kg of cooked sardines for both participants to accompany the ugali. According to K24, Wamalwa was rewarded for his impressive feat with fertilizer and maize seeds to plant.
This incredible display of eating prowess has earned Wamalwa local fame as the “ugali ace” of Bungoma. While the competition may seem unusual to some, it is not uncommon for eating competitions to take place in various regions worldwide, showcasing a unique aspect of culture and tradition.
