The country was sent into a shock following the disclosure by Nazizi about the sudden death of her son Jazeel Adam at the tender age of 3.
Notably, the devastating news were issued through a press statement on December 26.
The statement was shared by the rapper and her close associate, former Necessary Noize crew member Wyre.
The statement further unveiled the heartache that struck the beloved family on Christmas Day, December 25th, 2023, in Tanzania.
What was supposed to be a moment of enjoyment during the festive season turned to be a moment of sorrow for Nazizi and her husband Tanaka.
“It is with profound sorrow and deepest heartache that we confirm the tragic passing of Jazeel, the beloved son of Nazizi Hirji on Christmas Day, December 25th, 2023, in Tanzania,” read the statement in part.
Furthermore, the heart-breaking revelation continued as details unfolded about the unfortunate accident at a hotel, where the family was staying.
Jazeel was laid to rest earlier on December 26 in Nairobi, honoring his religious traditions.
Nevertheless, the statement explained that the void left by the loss is immeasurable, echoing the innocence and joy of a child’s life.
The statement further read, “The void left by the loss is both immeasurable, and the pain is unbearable.”
Nazizi Mourns, Asks for Privacy
Also, in her son’s honor, the renowned Kenyan rapper appealed for privacy during this indescribable sorrow.
Nazizi went on to urge media, fans, and the public to respect the sanctity of family and the preciousness of life.
“Uphold the sanctity of family and the preciousness of life by fostering a period of privacy and respect,” read the statement.

The family, grappling with the sudden tragedy, has requested compassion and understanding as they navigate through this dark period.

Kenyans online, led by famous celebrities, continue to express their condolences, offering comforting messages to Nazizi and her family during this incredibly difficult time.
Rapper Femi one and Utawezana hit maker showed love posting, “Pole sana Nazizi, my condolences and may God comfort you sister.”
Celebrated film maker and content creator Abel Mutua also showed love through a message on Instagram noting that his heart goes to the family.
On the other hand, legendary rapper Jua Cali also sent his condolences stating, “This is sad, sorry Naz and the entire family may his soul rest in peace.”

Jazeel Undergoes Surgery
Earlier in August, Jazeel underwent a cochlear implant surgery, after her mother recognized hearing challenges from the age of 11 months.

A cochlear implant involves fitting a sound processor behind the ear which in turn aids in hearing through capturing and sending of signals.
Notably, the rapper embarked on this emotional journey after the surgery on August 3rd. She further revealed that it was the toughest decisions she had made as a parent.
Nazizi, born on March 30, 1981, rose to legendary status as a Kenyan rapper, notably part of the award-winning group Necessary Noize.
Formed in October 2000, the group was composed of Nazizi Hirji, Kevin Wyre, and initially Bamzigi.
It made significant contributions to the Kenyan hip-hop scene.
