Filmmaker Abel Mutua has sternly directed his words towards Nation Media Group‘s NTV, demanding the removal of a post shared on their social media platform.
The post, which has since been taken down on NTV’s X account, revealed the financial details of Mutua’s association with Netflix.
It contained a link directing readers to an article from Nation’s Nairobi News, revealing the alleged amount of money Abel Mutua and his business partner, Phillip Karanja, had collectively earned from their collaboration with Netflix.
While expressing his dismay, Mutua stated, “NTV Kenya, this is so low of you. Where did you get these figures from? Who has even talked to you about anything?”
Abel Mutua further emphasized his demand for the post’s removal.
Nonetheless, the news article claims that Abel Mutua and Phillip Karanja were set to receive a substantial amount from Netflix, which stems from their successful 2020 movie, “Click Click Bang.”
Adding to the intrigue, the article suggests that the authenticity of this news had been confirmed by veteran film producer Reuben Odanga.

Abel Mutua Unhappy
Mutua’s frustration was evident, as he went on to direct the media house to take down the post, reflecting his displeasure with the NTV’s disclosure.
“Style up, you of all people should know better. Take this down please.”
Earlier this month, Abel Mutua and Phillip Karanja shared exciting news about their 2020 movie, “Click Click Bang,” making its debut on Netflix.
“Ladies and gentlemen, tonight from midnight, our blockbuster will be up on Netflix. Let’s see if we can reach a global audience with our very own Kenyan story,” he stated then.
Click Click Bang
The film, “Click Click Bang,” revolves around the life of Kev, a talented footballer and orphan who assumes the role of caretaker for his ailing sister when his football dreams are abruptly shattered.
Forced to make difficult choices, he ventures into the criminal world in a desperate bid to survive.
Unbeknownst to Kev, these choices set off a chain of events that lead to more significant consequences than he ever anticipated.

According to Abel during an interview, an element of remarkable financial success accompanied this film.
He claimed that its pre-production, distribution, and marketing costs amounted to a sum close to Ksh7 million.
“The returns are almost hitting a million, so it was successful. We really appreciate it because most film projects don’t make a profit.
Most people look for funding abroad to make movies,” said Abel.
