The Ochungulo Family had taken such a long break that fans began to speculate that the group had split. The group however refuted the claims in 2022 stating that they had taken the break for people to pursue solo careers.

The rise of Gengetone music
Six months before this announcement, the group had released a statement stating that they had mutually agreed to split up.
“To all our fans, we want to say thank you for the support you have given us the past for the past few years. You have been good to us, God has been good to us and the music has been good to us. We have reached a point where we have different goals and targets. So the decision of us splitting is a mutual feeling and we saw that as the best way forward,” stated the music group.
