The tunes, which have gained worldwide recognition have made Octopizzo the second artist to have four songs featured on Spotify’s Global Impact list after Bien Aime.
The list also recognized the power of collaboration in taking Kenyan music to a different level.
“Beyond genres, the Global Impact List highlights another key trend: the power of collaboration. Collaboration is not just a trend—it is the heartbeat of Kenya’s thriving music industry,” stated Spotify.
Kenyans commended for collaboration
The music company revealed that the top 10 songs on the list were collaborations.
“A deep dive into the list reveals a striking fact: every song in the top ten is a collaboration. From Bien and Bensoul’s ‘Extra Pressure’ to the viral hit ‘Anguka Nayo’by Wadagliz, teamwork is driving Kenya’s global sound,” stated the music platform.

Spotify’s Global Impact List showcases how East African sounds are breaking borders. Octopizzo’s feat demonstrates a notable rise in streams of Kenya’s diverse and captivating sounds beyond its borders and celebrates the artists who have taken East African sounds to new markets.
Octopizzo, whose real name is Henry Ohanga, came into the limelight in 2007 after releasing his famous track ‘Namba Nane’. Beyond music, he is a philanthropist committed to community impact through his foundation, the Octopizzo Foundation.
