On his 59th birthday, Rigathi Gachagua, the Deputy President of Kenya, received a heartfelt message from his wife, Pastor Dorcas Rigathi.
In a post on her official X account, Pastor Dorcas wished her husband good health and prosperity on his birthday, and celebrated him as an extraordinary man, husband, companion, and friend.
She highlighted his role as the pillar and covering of their family and praised him for being a devoted father and husband.
“Happy Birthday to my extraordinary man, husband, companion and friend. You are the pillar and a covering of our family. You take everything in stride and are truthful to a fault.” reads the post in part.
“Kevin, Keith and I celebrate the wonderful gift of your life. You are the best father and husband. May the Lord grant you favor, long life, and overflowing blessings. May He fulfill every desire of your heart.“
In her message, she acknowledged the misconceptions surrounding Gachagua’s public image and emphasized his loving and caring nature.

Describing him as a dedicated man who tirelessly works to fulfill the government’s promises, she praised his commitment to serving the people.
According to Pastor Dorcas, the deputy president is nothing like what people say about him in the public light, adding that he is mostly misunderstood.
“When he is in his natural habitat and environment, many people do not even know if he is the same one that people speak about out there. He is a great man, he is a man who loves God, a man who loves to serve people and he serves them with dedication like no other,” said Pastor Dorcas
“I have a good husband, he is good to my two sons as a father, and he is a good leader who works tirelessly. Many people misunderstand him when he puts on a stony face, but he is a good father, a warm husband and a great leader where he stands.”
The pastor further shared insights into Gachagua’s personal life, expressing gratitude for his role in their family.
Rigathi Gachagua’s Early Life and Meeting with Pastor Dorcas
Gachagua’s early life and education are integral parts of his journey. Born on February 28, 1965, in Ruguru village, Mathira, Nyeri County, the DP pursued his education diligently, culminating in a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science and Literature from the University of Nairobi in 1988.
Before entering politics, Gachagua held various roles in the government and private sector, showcasing his leadership qualities and dedication to public service.
Gachagua’s professional life started with many different roles in the government, including serving as an assistant secretary in the Ministry of Home Affairs & National Heritage from the period of 1989-1990.
He also served as a personal assistant to Uhuru Kenyatta when he served as the Head of the Public Service and Minister for Local Government.
His career path led him from becoming a district officer to later becoming the CEO of Ridor Group of Companies and the country’s Deputy President
Family plays a significant role in Gachagua’s life. The Deputy President and his wife met in university and began their relationship in 1987.
Together with his wife Pastor Dorcas, they have two sons, Keith Rigathi and Kelvin, who have pursued successful careers in medicine and software engineering respectively.
Gachagua’s early life experiences and education laid the foundation for his journey into politics, where he has become a respected figure known for his dedication to serving people.
