As content creators in Kenya continue to monetize various social media platforms, Mumias East Member of Parliament Peter Salasya has joined the list of moneymakers on these popular avenues.
Salasya has disclosed that his YouTube channel is now making him money in appeal sent to his followers asking them to subscribe to his channel.
“My Salasya TV YouTube channel is now making dollars. So I can make money out of comedy? Subscribe to my channel so we can enjoy these YouTube money together,” a thrilled Salasya said.
The Salaysa TV channel has 8,659 subscribers so far and had over 170,000 views in the past 28 days. On revenue, the MP has made 43.44 US dollars, which is equivalent to Ksh5,647 in the duration.
Excited Salasya fans chimed in on the comment section, congratulating him for his achievements.
A Facebook user Maina Kariuki commented saying, “Monetization it is. Time for jokers and comedians is now part of the entertainment industry.”
Another user named Wycliffe Okwany doubted the legislator saying, ” Gen Z Gen Z, you are lying. You will enjoy the money alone, not with anyone.”

Salasya has attracted both love and criticism from his online activity and demeanor that has not been traditionally associated with Kenyan leaders.
He rose to the limelight after being elected member of parliament for Mumias East.
However, he has been embroiled in controversies as well. In January 2024, a clip showing him slapping a man at an event went viral, attracting condemnation among users online. The clip also became a viral meme with people using it to express various emotions.
In December 2023, the legislator shared on his social media about his then newly acquired Ksh9 million Land Cruiser being stoned. He blamed it on youths he claimed were sponsored by his political rival.

The post attracted attention with Kenyans who commented on how the young parliamentarian’s life had changed months after being elected.
