Spotify has finally rolled out a much-anticipated artificial intelligence DJ feature in a number of countries including Kenya.
In a statement on August 8, 2023, the company said it will take personalization to the next level because it chooses the right music for the listener.
“DJ is a personalized AI guide that knows you and your music taste so well that it can choose what to play for you,” read a statement from Spotify.

There is a difference between the AI feature and the normal playlist is that the feature personalizes what to play for you.
The feature that will be rolled out in BETA for premium users will be unique as it will choose music to play for you.
In addition, the feature adds commentary on your playlist around the tracks and artists that Spotify thinks you are interested in.
Listeners with the feature will have the option to hear English language commentary from our initial voice model, Spotify’s own Head of Cultural Partnerships, Xavier “X” Jernigan.
“Never before has listening felt so completely personal to each and every user, thanks to the powerful combination of Spotify’s personalization technology, generative AI and a dynamic, expressive voice,” Spotify said.
How to access Spotify AI DJ feature
To access the AI DJ feature, open the Spotify mobile app on your iOS or Android device. Then, head to your Music Feed on Home and tap play on DJ.
The DJ artificial voice powered by voice tech, was purchased by Spotify last year and was developed by Sonantic AI. According to Spotify, the actual words that are said by the DJ are created from various sources.
