Several people are feared dead in a grisly road accident after three vehicles collided head on along the Nairobi- Mombasa Highway.
Reports indicated that the accident occurred during the early morning hours of Wednesday, November 8 at Tsavo River along the highway.
According to images and videos seen by The Kenya Times, the three trailers remained at the scene of the crash with the front completely damaged from the impact.
One of the trailers fell on its side on a bridge balancing loosely. Onlookers slowly milled at the scene to witness what had occurred.
Additionally, police officers and first responders were also at the scene to ensure that casualties were rushed to the nearest hospital for medical attention.
However, the National Police Service was yet to issue a statement on the incident by the time this article was written.

Fatalities in Recent Road Accident
The reports came barely a few days after 11 people lost their lives in a grisly road accident involving a Matatu and a lorry.
Notably, the Ngata-Salgaa road accident occurred on Monday, November 6, early morning.
Officers indicated that the 11-seater matatu and the lorry were plying the Nakuru- Eldoret Highway when they collided head on.
Additionally, many of the casualties were rushed to Nakuru Level 5 hospital and were receiving treatment.
While confirming the incident, Nakuru County Commander Samuel Ndanyi warned motorists across the country to be careful on the roads especially during the Christmas holiday season as many people were traveling to different locations across the country.
Road Carnage concerns
On the other hand, the increasing number of road accidents raised concerns among Kenyans who referenced other grisly accidents across the country including the Londiani accident which claimed more than 50 lived in July 2023.
“Let us be careful on the road especially during this time when we are approaching December holidays,” one user stated on Facebook.
Latest NTSA Statistics
Data from the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) indicated that at least 21,760 people were involved in road accidents in 2022 alone.
In addition, the authority reported that there was a 1,135 increase in road fatalities in 2022 from 2021, when 20,625 individuals were killed in traffic accidents.
At the same time, NTSA 2023 data indicates that 2,124 persons died in traffic accidents in 2023 between January and June.
Notably, the authority blamed unskilled and unfit drivers for the rise in fatalities, noting that many of them were pedestrians (571), followed by motorbike operators (449).
