The Office of the Attorney General advertised various job opportunities and asked interested and qualified Kenyans to apply.
In a job advertisement on Tuesday, November 5, the Office, under Dorcas Oduor, highlighted openings for the positions of Office Assistant and State Counsel.
“Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons for the positions shown below,” read part of the job advertisement.
The advertisement listed 30 vacancies for the role of Office Assistant, classified as Vacancy No. 6/2024, Job Group CSG 16, with the position title Office Assistant III.
Attorney General Office highlights duties of Office Assistant
According to the job advertisement, the duties and responsibilities of the Office Assistant include:
- Cleaning offices within the organization’s premises, machines, equipment, and apparatus.
- Maintaining general cleanliness around offices by collecting and disposing of litter.
- Collecting and disposing of waste, including paper, to ensure proper sanitation.
- Dusting office surfaces and ensuring a habitable environment.
- Moving or carrying office equipment and furniture to maintain an orderly arrangement.
- Dispatching letters and files.
- Performing photocopying, scanning, binding, and laminating tasks.
For appointment to the grade of Office Assistant III, CSG 16, candidates must possess a Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education with a mean grade of D.

Requirements for State Counsel position
The Office listed 78 positions for State Counsel, classified as Vacancy No. 3/2024, Job Group CSG 9.
The duties and responsibilities of the State Counsel include working under the guidance of a senior officer and may involve deployment to various technical divisions, including Civil Litigation, Legislative Drafting, Justice and Constitutional Affairs, Public Legal Services, Government Legal Services, the Advocates Complaints Commission, and Regional Offices.

Applicants for this position must fulfill the following requirements:
- A Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from a recognized institution.
- A Postgraduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law.
- Admission as an advocate of the High Court of Kenya.
- Compliance with Chapter Six of the Constitution.
- Proficiency in computer applications.
