American co-founder of Microsoft Corporation, Bill Gates, has revealed that convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein misled him by claiming he could connect him with wealthy individuals willing to donate to global health causes.
In an interview with Australia’s 9 News, Gates confirmed that he first met Epstein in 2011 and interacted with him over three years, but the promised connections never materialised.
“The focus was always—he knew a lot of very rich people, and he was saying he could get them to give money to global health,” Gates stated.
Gates described the effort as “a dead end” and admitted, “I was foolish to spend time with him.” Gates also noted, “I was one of many people who regretted ever knowing him.”
Bill Gates Clarifies Misconceptions
Bill Gates addressed a particular email in which Epstein mentioned him.
He explained that Epstein had written the email to himself and never sent it. Gates called the content “false” and expressed uncertainty about Epstein’s intentions, asking, “Was he trying to attack me in some way?”
The philanthropist said the email highlights the misleading nature of Epstein’s communications.
Gates stressed that his involvement with Epstein was limited strictly to dinners.

“It’s factually true that I was only at dinners. I never went to the island. I never met any women,” he clarified.
Additionally, he underlined that although his time with Epstein was a mistake, it did not involve any criminal activity.
Gates reflected on his experience and expressed personal regret.
“Every minute I spent with him I regret, and I apologise that I did that,” he said.
Furthermore, he insisted that the interactions were exclusively about philanthropic discussions and not about Epstein’s criminal enterprises.
Gates noted that as more information comes to light, it will become clear that his involvement was limited to discussions of global health funding.

Gates was among a long list of powerful men, which includes President Donald Trump, Elon Musk, and former President Bill Clinton, named in the millions of files the Justice Department collected.
Trump, Musk, and Clinton have denied wrongdoing, and authorities have not accused them of any crime in connection with Epstein. Hillary Clinton, the former Secretary of State, agreed Monday to testify in Congress about Epstein in the near future.
Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein’s former girlfriend and accomplice, is the sole person to have been charged and convicted of crimes associated with Epstein. She is serving a prison sentence in Texas.
Epstein died in prison awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges in 2019. His death was ruled a suicide.
