Bobmil Industries Limited, a popular mattress manufacturer, has responded to reports stating it is shutting down its operations.
The leading manufacturer denied the claims, stating that it was not shutting down and termed the reports “malicious claims”.
The company said it is “here to stay” and strives to build the future.
“Bobmil Industries Limited would like to address the false claims circulating in the media suggesting the company is shutting down. This is categorically untrue,” the company said in a statement on March 18.
“We have been engaged in manufacturing in Kenya for over 40 years, providing homes, industries, and institutions with quality products, and we’ll be here for 40 more.”
Bobmil Industries Denies Shutting Down
Bobmil further stated that it has invested heavily in state-of-the-art technology which has seen it expand capacity to ensure continued delivery of quality for Kenyans.
“We understand that these reports may have caused some concern and confusion, and we would like to reassure all our stakeholders and partners that they are false. We remain in business, as strong and committed as ever,” it added.
“Thank you for your trust, your support, and for making Bobmil a part of your homes and families. Together, we’ll keep building a stronger, brighter Kenya.”
Advocate Macharia Njeru also refuted reports that Bobmil was shutting down its operations in Kenya.
In a reply to the reports, Njeru said his law firm Macharia-Mwangi & Njeru Advocates is acting for the mattress manufacturer and assured that “they are very much in business”.
“Bobmil is not shutting down. My law Firm acts for them and they are very much in business,” he wrote to dispel the reports.

“We are proudly Kenyan, and the group employs over 600 hard-working Kenyans, while positively impacting communities across the country,” the statement read further.
Gazette Notice on Registrar of Companies Dissolving Bobmil
This comes after the Registrar of Companies announced the dissolution of Bobmil Industries Ltd and Haleon Ltd, in the Gazette Notice issued on Feb 14, 2025.
“Pursuant to section 58 (5) and (6) of the Companies Act, it is notified for general information that the under-mentioned company is dissolved: Bobmil Industries Limited and Haleon Limited,” read the notice in part.

Haleon, a leader in consumer health, also refuted reports that it was shutting down. In a statement to the press, Haleon assured the public that it remains fully operational and has not shut down.
“Haleon Kenya Limited wishes to assure the public that Haleon Kenya Limited remains fully operational and has not shut down. Effective 14th March 2025 GSK in Kenya changed its legal entity name to Haleon Kenya Limited,” read part of the statement.
As per a Gazette notice published by the Registrar of Companies Joyce Koech, 79 companies will be struck off after a period of 90 days.
“Pursuant to section 897 (3) of the Companies Act, the Registrar of Companies gives notice that the names of the companies specified hereunder shall be struck off from the Register of Companies at the expiry of three months from the date of publication of this Notice, and invites any person to show cause why the companies should not be struck off from the Register of Companies,” the notice read.
Additionally, 60 companies have already been granted the dissolution green light, with the Registrar of Companies stating that they will be struck off if no one challenges the process.
“Pursuant to section 897 (3) of the Companies Act, the Registrar of Companies gives notice that the names of the companies set out in the Schedule hereto shall, unless cause is shown to the contrary, be struck off the Register of Companies and the companies shall be dissolved.”
