Embu County Governor Cecily Mbarire has announced changes in her cabinet following the resignation of a Chief Officer.
In a notice on Thursday, January 30, the governor outlined the re-organization, which also affects Chief officers in the county government.
“In order to enhance service delivery and ensure seamless and smooth operations, the reshuffle of Chief Officers and County Executive Committee Members shall take place,” the statement read.

In the changes, Mbarire retained Prof. Joe Kamaria as the CEC in charge of Finance and Economic Planning while Emilio Kathuri will continue to serve in the Department of Administration, Public Service and ICT.
Additionally, Jamal Abdi Runyenje, will retain his Health docket. Similarly, John Ndwiga who has been serving in the Agriculture, Livestock, and Cooperative Development docket has not been moved.
Others who will retain their posts include Elijah Njeru Mugo who is in charge of Roads, Transport and Energy, Public Works, and Dr. Francis Ndigwa of Trade, Investment, Tourism, and Industrialization.

Also, Mbarire retained Jane Waroga who handles Youth, Gender, sports, culture, and Social Services, Daniel Jeremy Namu of Education and Amy Grace, the County Secretary and Head of Public Service.
However, Raymond Kinyua who previously served in Lands, Mining, housing, Physical Planning, and Urban Planning shall take care of the Water, Irrigation, environmental, and Climate Change docket.
Changes affest Chief Officers
At the same time, Governor Mbarire reorganized her Chief Officers.
“To improve service delivery in the county, I have made the following changes with immediate effect,” she said in a memo.
Paul Njoroge who handles Roads and Public Works will also be in charge of Transport, Energy, and Logistics.
Peter Njagi the chief officer for Lands and Mining will also oversee TVET’s and Vocational Training Centres docket.

Additionally, Stephen Njeru will oversee Livestock and Blue Economy together with the Agriculture Department.
Pithon Mugambi who is currently serving as the CO of Early Childhood Development and Education and wil also take care of the Resource Mobilization and Partnership docket.
Erastus Njeru who handles the crucial Economic Planning and Budgeting Department will also be in charge of Environment Natural Resources and Climate Change following the resignation of Nicholas Kunga.
In her memo, Governor Mbarire noted that she had accepted the resignation of Kunga, without giving reasons why he left.
She further said that the unaffected Chief Officers will remain in their respective dockets and departments.
“The County Secretary and Head of Public Service will ensure seamless transition and handing over, Governor Mbarire said.
