Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has called out Cabinet Secretary for Treasury John Mbadi for failing to appear before the Senate.
CS Mbadi was expected to appear before the Senate on Wednesday, September 18, to answer questions related to his ministry.
According to Senator Sifuna, Mbadi had confirmed his attendance on Tuesday evening only for him to send a letter during the Wednesday morning session notifying the house that he would not attend.
Mbadi claimed that he had a meeting at State House and thus he could not make it for the Senate meeting.
Kathuri warns Mbadi
Deputy Speaker Kathuri Murungi- on his part, said it was not in order for Mbadi to send a letter while the session was still on.
“The Senate can invoke Standing Order 51 (d) to censure the CS for failing to appear before this House without giving a probable cause,” Kathuri said.
Sifuna’s statement comes days after he slammed Energy Cabinet Secretary (CS) Opiyo Wandayi and his Cooperatives counterpart Wycliffe Oparanya for their recent conduct since joining the government.
Speaking on Thursday, September 12, the ODM Secretary General criticized Oparanya for changing his stance on the hustler fund.

Sifuna criticizes Oparanya and Wandayi
Sifuna noted that Oparanya previously articulated ODM’s policy position on the hustler fund when he was the deputy party leader.
However, since assuming the CS position, Oparanya has adopted a different stance not associated with ODM.
Additionally, Sifuna recently blasted CS Wandayi for failing to appear before the senate energy committee on Tuesday, September 10, to explain the reasons behind the recent nationwide blackout.
