Dr. David Muge is a veterinary surgeon, an entrepreneur, and the Personal Assistant (PA) to President William Ruto.
Born in Turbo, a town located between Nandi and Uasin Gishu counties in Kenya’s Rift Valley, Muge spent his early years in Tanzania and Kenya.
He began his education in Tanzania and later attended Kapsabet Boys’ High School in Nandi County. Muge later completed his A-level studies at Nakuru High School in Kenya.
After completing his undergraduate education, he won a prestigious scholarship to further his studies at the University of Bristol in Somerset, England.
The PA holds a bachelor’s degree in veterinary medicine from the University of Nairobi and a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in pharmacology from the University of Bristol.
Muge’s Professional Career
After graduating with a Doctor of Philosophy in Pharmacology, Dr. Muge was offered a job by the University of Bristol.
He later worked for the University of Liverpool in northwest England. At both universities, he engaged in research and tutored students.
Following rigorous examinations, he was admitted as a member of the prestigious Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) in London.
This accomplishment paved the way for Muge to work as a veterinary surgeon throughout England and Wales.

Muge eventually started his first veterinary surgery in the suburbs of west London.
He expanded his practice by opening a chain of veterinary surgeries that provided 24-hour emergency veterinary care and continuous professional development for other veterinary surgeons and nurses within west London.
Muge worked as a veterinary surgeon in the UK from 1998 to 1999 and then from 2000 to 2014 served as the Director of Animals Are Us Limited.
After 15 years in private practice, Muge returned to Kenya to work with William Ruto, who had been elected as the Deputy President of the Republic of Kenya.
Upon Ruto’s election as the fifth President of the Republic of Kenya, Dr. Muge became his Personal Assistant, a position he holds to date.
Muge has been working with Ruto since March 2015, for a period of nine years and five months to date.
Entrepreneurial Journey of David Muge
David Muge has made significant investments in the coffee sector through the launch of the Great Rift Coffee Plant.
As a philanthropist and entrepreneur, Muge embarked on a journey to empower the local community. He planted commercial coffee, sugarcane, maize, and macadamia.

The state-of-the-art Great Rift Coffee Plant in Eldoret, mills, roasts, packages, and sells high-quality coffee worldwide, including in countries such as Germany, the USA, South Korea, South Africa, Belgium, and the United Arab Emirates.
Muge earlier revealed that he invested the money he earned in the UK to plant the coffee and later used additional funds to open a milling factory upon his return to Kenya.
Following this success, Muge’s coffee venture now offers academic scholarships to top-performing girls in Nandi County every year.
The organization also offers free education on coffee management, free coffee seedlings as well as advance cash payments to farmers in need of financing.
The tycoon served as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Great Rift Coffee from February 2018 to November 2022.
Additionally, he held the role of CEO of Clifton Energy Limited for four years and six months, from July 2018 to December 2022.
