David Ruto is among Kenya’s most accomplished IT consultants and entrepreneurs, who has built a career across the United States and Kenya.

Despite being President William Ruto’s younger brother, Daniel has maintained a low public profile.

David has maintained a private life away from the political influence of President Ruto, focusing on business, technology, and project management rather than formal government roles.

David’s return to Kenya from the USA, according to President Ruto, was ordered by him, as the eldest sibling responsible for his family after their father’s death.

“Because I am the one who is responsible for him coming back to Kenya, he was not planning to come to Kenya. I insisted and told him, ‘You must come back. I am speaking to you as your elder brother. Because our father is not there and I occupy that position, I have instructed you to come home,” William Ruto stated during David’s wedding.

Early Life and Family

David grew up in Uasin Gishu County, in the Kamagut and Sambut area, within a family whose livelihood was rooted in agriculture.

Following the death of David’s father, President Ruto stepped in as the family head and encouraged David to return to Kenya from the United States to contribute to the family and national development.

Education Background

Educationally, David Ruto pursued a Bachelor’s Degree in Business and Management Information Systems in the United States of America (USA) from Indiana State University.

Additionally, he has a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Capella University in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA.

David Ruto also obtained a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) and Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute, awarded in June 2014.

Professional Career and Achievements

From 2000 to 2018, David ventured into manufacturing, logistics, consulting, and enterprise technology in the United States.

David Ruto began his professional career as an Assistant Production Planner at Digital Audio Disc Corporation (DADC) in Indiana.

He later served as Shipping Manager and ERP Administrator at Sia Abrasives in North Carolina and worked as a Management Information Systems Trainer at Oldcastle Inc.

After a while, David joined Columbus IT as a consultant, specializing in Microsoft Dynamics AX implementation, training, and support.

Subsequently, he held several senior positions at Hitachi Solutions America, including Senior Consultant, Manager of Consulting Services, and Senior Manager and Solution Architect.

During his time there, he received a peer-nominated Innovation Award for developing customer-focused solutions.

Since returning to Kenya in 2018, David has taken on several leadership and entrepreneurial roles, including serving as the Managing Director of Creative Concrete Products.

David Ruto is the Founder and Chairman of Kirongosi Group, a consulting firm that provides IT strategy, ERP, project management, and solution architecture services.

He is also a Founder and Managing Partner of Global South Advisory Group (GSAG), where he helps businesses expand into emerging markets across Africa, Asia, and Latin America.

Although not a politician, David contributed to his brother’s 2022 presidential campaign as part of the advisory and strategy team.

During his political involvement, David’s role focused on grassroots mobilization and behind-the-scenes support.
