David Ruto is among Kenya’s most accomplished IT consultants and entrepreneurs, who has built a career across the United States and Kenya.
Despite being President William Ruto’s younger brother, Daniel has maintained a low public profile.
David has maintained a private life away from the political influence of President Ruto, focusing on business, technology, and project management rather than formal government roles.
David’s return to Kenya from the USA, according to President Ruto, was ordered by him, as the eldest sibling responsible for his family after their father’s death.
“Because I am the one who is responsible for him coming back to Kenya, he was not planning to come to Kenya. I insisted and told him, ‘You must come back. I am speaking to you as your elder brother. Because our father is not there and I occupy that position, I have instructed you to come home,” William Ruto stated during David’s wedding.
Early Life and Family
David grew up in Uasin Gishu County, in the Kamagut and Sambut area, within a family whose livelihood was rooted in agriculture.
Following the death of David’s father, President Ruto stepped in as the family head and encouraged David to return to Kenya from the United States to contribute to the family and national development.
