Pastor of Reign City Chapel Darmon Shunet has explained the relationship between the Easter holidays and Christmas day celebrations.
Speaking at a local TV station, the pastor responded to a question posed over which of the two days is more prominent than the other.
Christians all over the world always celebrate Christmas to mark the birth of Jesus while the Easter holidays marks the death and resurrection of Christ.
According to Shunet the two days are dependent on each other for relevance and good celebrations.
“The only reason why we have Christmas is because of Easter, Easter is there because of Christmas. So, both of them are working together,” Shunet said.
Shunet explained that Jesus was born to die therefore Christmas (birth) is useless without Easter (death).
Additionally, the pastor said Jesus could not have died on Easter if he was not born making Christmas equally important.
“If he is not born, he is not going to die, and if he is not dying then there is no point in him being born. So, both of them have to work together to bring that harmonious celebration,” he explained.
How to Celebrate Easter Holidays
With a quote from John 15:13, the pastor urged people to use the Easter holidays to reconcile with God.
He stated that Jesus died to save sinners adding that a life without God is the first step to destruction.
“Jesus died as a privilege and an opportunity where we can be reconciled back to God. Man without God will drive themselves into chaos,” he said.

Shunet explained that human beings always ‘wants to die’ and will do anything it take to achieve this goal.
“Naturally our bodies want to die. Even with the diet, think of your mums’ nice meals but you would pass over that to go and get baggers, pizzas and things that are destroying us. There are things that we know are good, but we don’t do them because our bodies want to die,” he said.
He maintained that “Jesus came to present a better option; he came to present life. Man without God will definitely lead themselves into temptation.”

Holiday Dates
According to the Gospel Books Jesus died on Friday and rose from the dead Sunday morning.
This event is commemorated every year as part of the Easter celebration.
Easter always falls on the first Sunday after the Full Moon date, based on mathematical calculations, that falls on or after March 21.
However, if the full moon is on a Sunday, the holiday is celebrated the following Sunday.
Christmas is equally celebrated yearly on December 25.
