Equity Bank Kenya announced a planned six-hour maintenance affecting its “send money to other banks” service across its digital banking channels, including Equity Mobile App, Equity Online, EazzyBiz, 247#, and Equitel.
The bank issued a notice on Tuesday, September 23, stating that the services will be unavailable from Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at 10:00 PM to Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at 4:00 AM.
The bank noted all other services will remain available during the scheduled maintenance.
“Dear Member, Due to a planned system maintenance, send money to other banks service on Equity Mobile App, Equity Online, EazzyBiz, *247# and Equitel will be unavailable from Tuesday, 23/9/2025 10:00PM to Wednesday, 24/9/2025 at 4:00AM,” read the notice in part.
“All other services remain available. We apologize for any inconvenience caused.”

At the same time, Equity issued a caution to customers against falling victim to fraudsters exploiting the situation.
The bank reminded users that it only contacts clients through one official number, 0763 000 000, and stressed that it never asks for sensitive banking details through calls or text messages.
“Please remember, Equity calls you from only ONE number: 0763 000 000. DO NOT engage with anyone asking for your personal banking details. Equity will never ask for your bank details, PIN, Password, OTP or Card information on phone or SMS.

This comes in a month when the lender announced a temporary service disruption affecting bank-to-mobile wallet transactions, urging customers to remain patient as its technical team works to resolve the issue.
In a notice sent to members on Friday August 22, Equity Bank confirmed that a hitch interrupted mobile money services but assured customers that efforts are underway to restore normalcy.
“We are experiencing a service interruption affecting bank-to-mobile wallet transactions. Kindly bear with us as the technical team works to restore the services. We apologize for the inconvenience,” the bank said then.
Equity Bank allows customers to send money to other banks in Kenya through the PesaLink service, which offers real-time transfers to both individual and business accounts. Transfers can be made via the Equity Mobile App, Equitel, or online banking platforms.
Additionally, customers can use international money transfer services such as Sendwave, Remitly, and WorldRemit to send funds to bank accounts in Kenya and abroad.
