A former business journalist who left the Standard Group’s KTN News to further her studies was elated on July 15, after graduating from a top university in London. Brenda Kerubo graduated from City, University of London, a prestigious institution of higher learning in the UK.
“I can’t keep calm. Today, l graduate from the best financial journalism school in Europe, City University of London,” said Kerubo.
Following the announcement online, her friends, showered her with congratulatory messages.
“Congratulations and may the sky not be the limit since we have another space above it,” said Kennedy Kandira.
A former colleague, Beryl Ringos known as Ambassador Ringos on Facebook said, “Congratulations Brenda Kerubo keep up the amazing work. You’re inspirational. That was fast.”
Jared Ontobo, a journalist at the Standard Group and who worked with Brenda before her exit noted, “Congratulations Brenda Kerubo. It is a fulfilling journey for you.”
Kerubo is an award-winning journalist and a scholar at the Erasmus Mundus Masters programme in Journalism, Media, and Globalization, which she pursued at Aarhus University in Denmark and City, University of London.

She also revealed that she was now a master’s holder and an International Financial Journalist.
The award-winning journalist is best known for her time at the Standard Media Group where she worked for three years before announcing her exit in July 2022.

At the media house, Kerubo worked as a business anchor and reporter.
“3 years and 7 months. How time flies. Today, I will anchor my last bulletin at 9:30 am on KTN News, a place I consider home because of the people.”

“A place where my career rose to a level I would never have imagined. I knew from a young age television is for me, but it feels great to achieve everything that I have in the last ten years of broadcast journalism.”
“Today I sign off and say goodbye. Thank you for watching and supporting my stories and programs, forever grateful. May God bless you all,” Kerubo stated in her final broadcast at KTN.
Kerubo’s Extensive Career as a Business Journalist
Kerubo’s career as a journalist began in 2011 at CGTN Africa where she worked as a business writer, covering various China-Africa relations and conferences in both Beijing and Nairobi.
She also had a stint at Mediamax Network Limited from 2016 to 2018 where she worked as a business reporter and producer.
Her journalistic breakthrough came when she was selected for the Bloomberg News Financial Journalism Training in 2017, where she acquired valuable skills in interpreting financial information and interviewing business leaders.

She has since interviewed prominent figures such as the President of the European Council, Charles Michel, and French President Emmanuel Macron.
Kerubo has also had conversations with various company including the first African to win the prestigious Pritzker Prize, Francis Kéré, and executives from Safaricom, Equity Group, Jumia, the Global Center on Adaptation, and Mars Wrigley Confectionery.
Prior to moving to Europe, Kerubo was based in Nairobi, where she covered key events in African countries, including the 2017 Kenya General Elections, and engaged with Africa’s captains of industries and policymakers.

Kerubo announced her new job through a statement dated September Friday 23, where she expressed her excitement to be part of the global organization.
“I’m happy to share that I’m starting a new position as a communication consultant at World Bank,” said an elated Kerubo.
