As the investigations into the gruesome murder of Seth Nyakio intensify, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has revealed fresh details of the main suspect believed to have killed the daughter to a Kirinyaga politician.
DCI in a statement on November 14, revealed the details while appealing to Kenyans concerning the whereabouts of the suspect, who fled the scene after committing the heinous act and has since gone into hiding
24-year-old Miss Seth Nyakio Njeri’s lifeless body was discovered on October 10, 2024, at a friend’s house in Biafra Estate, Thika township.
The murder of Nyakio who had recently graduated from Zetech University left the community in shock, with many demanding the justice for the young woman, who was the daughter of nominated Kirinyaga Member of County Assembly (MCA) Lucy Njeri.
Following the launch of investigations, the directorate published a photo of the suspect identified by his moniker as Sultan, adding that he has previously been involved in a criminal case.
The DCI confirmed that homicide detectives are actively pursuing him, warning that he is to be considered dangerous. According to the DCI, the suspect has a history of violent behavior, with a criminal record that includes a recent court case on September 25, 2024, in which he was accused of threatening to kill.
DCI Appeals to Kenyans
With this new information, the DCI is urging the public to be vigilant and come forward with any information that may lead to his arrest. “Detectives are considering him dangerous to anyone he deems might expose him,” the statement reads.
The DCI has launched an appeal to Kenyans to assist in locating the fugitive and urged the public to contact the DCI’s toll-free hotline at 0800 722 203, available at any time to report anonymously. Alternatively, individuals with information are encouraged to report directly to any police station.

Earlier, Preliminary police investigations had suggested that Nyakio was strangled to death. But when she failed to check in later that night, the politician grew concerned.
“She always updated me, and when her phone rang unanswered, I feared the worst,” said Njeri. Tragically, her fears were realised when a friend called with the news of her daughter’s death.
The family managed to locate the car Nyakio had used, parked in the Biafra area of Thika, but frustrations grew as they learnt her body had been registered as ‘unknown’ at the local mortuary, despite being identified by a friend at the police station.
The autopsy revealed that Nyakio died from strangulation, with evidence suggesting an assault prior to her death.
Bruises were found on her neck, cheeks, thighs, and other areas, indicating that she likely fought her attacker. Investigators are still piecing together the details of the tragic incident as the family and community continue to seek justice for Nyakio.
