Several counties across Kenya are expected to experience light to moderate rainfall, cold and cloudy conditions between Sunday, September 20 and Thursday, September 24, according to the Kenya Meteorological Service (KMS).
Its forecast, issued on September 18, indicates that intermittent cold and cloudy conditions are likely in parts of Nairobi, Kajiado, Kiambu, Murang’a, Nyeri, Nyandarua, Wajir and Garissa.
“Light to moderate rainfall is expected in several counties. o Intermittent cold and cloudy conditions are likely to occur in some parts of Nairobi, Kajiado, Kiambu, Murang’a, Nyeri, Nyandarua, Wajir and Garissa Counties,” read part of its forecast.
KMS Details Weather Outlook For Counties
In Nairobi, light rains are expected during the mornings on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, followed by light afternoon showers.
The capital is expected to experience cloudy to sunny intervals on Wednesday and Thursday mornings, with sunny intervals forecast in the afternoons.
Temperatures in Nairobi will range between 14°C and 28°C during the five-day period, with the highest temperature expected on Sunday.
Kiambu is also set for wet conditions early in the week, with light morning rains forecast from Sunday to Tuesday.
Moderate afternoon showers are expected on Sunday and Monday before conditions improve to sunny intervals from Tuesday. Temperatures will range between 16°C and 28°C.
In Nyeri, KMS noted that light rains are forecast every morning throughout the five days. The county will experience light afternoon showers on Sunday and Monday, with sunny intervals expected from Tuesday. Night temperatures could fall to 13°C by Wednesday and Thursday.

Nyandarua is expected to experience some of the coldest conditions, with minimum temperatures dropping to 5°C on Monday. The county will record maximum temperatures of between 23°C and 26°C, with a light shower expected on Monday afternoon.
Across the Coast region, Mombasa, Kwale, Kilifi and Lamu are expected to receive moderate showers on Sunday. The rainfall will generally reduce to light showers and sunny intervals from Monday, although some areas could experience rainfall at night.
Mombasa will record maximum temperatures of up to 29°C, while Taita/Taveta is expected to reach 30°C on Wednesday and Thursday.

Other Regions
KMS stated that parts of Eastern Kenya will also receive rainfall. Embu is forecast to experience moderate rains on Monday morning, while Kitui and Machakos will receive light morning rains through Tuesday. Several areas are expected to see afternoon showers during the first part of the week.
In the Rift Valley, Nakuru will experience afternoon showers throughout the forecast period, including moderate showers on Monday. Nandi, Laikipia, Kericho and Bomet are also expected to receive varying amounts of rainfall during the week.
Western counties will generally experience sunny intervals, although Kakamega, Vihiga and Bungoma are forecast to receive moderate showers at different times, particularly from Tuesday.
Meanwhile, northern Kenya will remain relatively hot. Turkana and Mandera are expected to record maximum temperatures of up to 37°C, while Wajir could reach 34°C by Thursday.
