Gachagua Accuses NIS of Setting Budget to Dismantle Supreme Court

Former Deputy President (DP) Rigathi Gachagua has alleged that the National Intelligence Service (NIS) has plans to dismantle the Supreme Court.

Speaking on Sunday, January 26, Gachagua said the NIS has set aside a budget to fight Chief Justice (CJ) Martha Koome, Supreme Court judges and the annex court in general.

Gachagua claims that NIS is fighting for the removal of CJ Koome and other judges in order to create a bench that is favourable to President William Ruto and the Kenya Kwanza regime.

“There is a bigger scheme to dismantle the Supreme Court ahead of the 2027 elections. A budget has been set aside through the National Intelligence Service,” Gachagua said.

“All those petitions you see against Koome, and judges of the Supreme Court is the machinations of the government because they would like to put a Supreme Court bench that is amiable to what those in power want.”

Gachagua Advise to Koome

He urged CJ Koome to remain firm and continue defending the Constitution and the rule of law.

Gachagua emphasized that he stands with Koome, alleging that the government had a plan to remove him from office, followed by the removal of CJ Koome.

“I have seen a scheme to remove Koome from office as CJ and President of the Supreme Court. We stand with her. I want her not to be intimidated. You are doing a good job. Continue making sure that this is a country of rule of law and constitutionalism,” he said.

He urged Kenyans to remain vigilant to prevent the Judiciary from being captured, ensuring that Koome is not removed from office and the Supreme Court is not disbanded ahead of the 2027 elections.

He also alleged that the same scheme was used against former Inspector General of Police, Japhet Koome.

Plea to International Community

Gachagua has once again urged the international community to closely monitor Kenya.

He mentioned that Ruto has captured Parliament and the opposition, warning that the country will descend into dictatorship if the Judiciary is also taken over.

“If now they capture the Judiciary through the removal of CJ Koome and Supreme Court judges, this country will slip into dictation,” he said.
