Deputy President (DP) Rigathi Gachagua has reacted to President William Ruto’s recent decision to reshuffle his cabinet.
Taking to his X account, DP Gachagua asked the public not to focus too much into the changes adding that they will ensure service delivery.
“It is the prerogative of the President to organize and reorganize his team. President William Ruto just reorganized his team for effective delivery of the services.
There is no one who was removed from the office. There is no need to read too much into the President’s reshuffle,” said Gachagua.
Further, the DP asked those moved to new positions to commit to their work and provide visible results.
“I kindly ask those who were given new mandates to work with diligence and commitment and ensure that their work is visible to the public,” added Gachagua.
Ruto’s Cabinet Reshuffle
In the changes, Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi took over control of the Foreign Affairs docket.
Moreover, Mudavadi’s docket will now be named the Office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary and Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Dr Alfred Mutua, who previously held the office of Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary will now head the Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife.
Mutua replaced Peninah Malonza who was moved to the Ministry of East African Community and the Asals and Regional Development.
Also affected by the reshuffle is Trade Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria who will henceforth serve as the CS for Public Service, Performance, and Delivery Management.
CS Kuria was replaced by Rebecca Miano who previously served as the CS in the Ministry of EAC Affairs and Asals Development.

In other changes, CS Aisha Jumwa, formerly the CS for Public Service will lead a new docket named Gender, Culture, and the Arts and Heritage.
Also, former Water CS Alice Wahome swapped positions with Zachary Njeru, she will now serve as CS of Lands and Physical Planning.
In addition, the State House announced the constitution of the Office of Government’s Spokesperson with former Nominated Senator Isaac Mwaura set to take over the role.
According to the statement, Mwaura will have two deputies, among them former K24 news anchor Mwanaisha Chidzuga.
Gabriel Muthuma will also assume the role of the Deputy Government Spokesperson alongside Chidzuga.

Kuria on Changes
Speaking in Garissa on Thursday, October 5, Public Service CS Moses Kuria responded to the recent cabinet reshuffle.
Kuria said he has no time for political bickering and vowed to shift focus to his new role.
He hit out at those who celebrated his reassignment noting that his delivery would shock them.
“Those celebrating that I have been moved from this ministry, within six months they will go back to the president to complain about my delivery,” he said.
Further, the former MP has maintained that he will sustain his spirit in connecting with Kenyans at the grassroot level in his new docket.
