The government has disbursed KSh 4.6 billion under the Inua Jamii programme to support over 1.15 million vulnerable Kenyans, covering the months of June and July 2025.
In a statement issued on August 7, the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection confirmed that payments began today, benefiting older persons and individuals living with severe disabilities.
Each beneficiary will receive Ksh 4,000, divided equally into two monthly installments of Ksh 2,000.
The Ministry said the delay in the June stipend was due to a data cleanup exercise and apologized for any inconvenience caused.
“The State Department apologizes to beneficiaries for any inconvenience caused by the delay.” said Joseph M. Motari, Principal Secretary of the State Department for Social Protection and Senior Citizen Affairs.
The cash transfer program targets senior citizens aged 70 and above, orphans and vulnerable children, and persons with severe disabilities.
The government is also urging beneficiaries to register with the newly established Social Health Authority (SHA) to access affordable and quality healthcare services, aligning with Kenya’s goal of universal health coverage.

In line with the government’s commitment to ensuring universal health coverage, the Ministry encourages all Inua Jamii beneficiaries to register with the Social Health Authority (SHA) to access affordable and quality healthcare.
The disbursement shows the government’s continued commitment to supporting marginalized communities through timely and consistent social protection programs.
How to Withdraw Inua Jamii Fund
Inua Jamii has a USSD code that allows beneficiaries and caregivers to withdraw cash from M-PESA.
Beneficiaries can access cash withdrawals by dialing *222# on their phone and following an easy process.
This initiative, effective from the January 2025 payment cycle, ensures all beneficiaries receive their stipends via the e-Citizen-Mpesa payment platform.
Beneficiaries and caregivers will receive a notification of the amount being withdrawn. They must withdraw the full amount they have indicated.
After the notification message, enter the M-PESA pin and wait for a confirmation message.
Upon successful withdrawal, the beneficiary or caregiver will be issued with funds and collect their identification cards (ID) from the agent.

All beneficiaries should have Safaricom-registered lines that match their ID cards, and they will be required to activate their M-PESA accounts to receive their funds.
What is the Inua Jamii Program?
The Inua Jamii program is managed by the Directorate of Social Assistance under the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection.
It was designed to support the welfare of the vulnerable groups in Kenya.
Among the key beneficiaries are the poor and vulnerable children, older persons, persons living with disabilities, and people living in hunger-affected areas.
It provides Ksh2,000 monthly stipends to eligible citizens to cater to social needs.
The program seeks to reduce poverty, promote health and well-being, and strengthen inclusion by offering financial support.
