The government under Public Service Commission (PSC) has announced top vacancies in four public universities across the country.
In and Thursday October 26th advertisement, the commission declared vacant positions in Multimedia University, Kibabii University,Karatina University and Egerton University.
Moreover, the government invited qualified and interested individuals to apply for the positions of Vice Chancelor and Deputy Vice Chancelors.
“The Public Service Commision invites applications from suitably qualified persons for the vacant positions in public university,” read the statement in part.

Similarly, Multimedia University has three vacancies including the positions of a Vice chancellor, Deputy Vice chancellor for Academic Affairs, research, and innovation as well as a Deputy Vice Chancellor for Administration, finance, and planning.

Likewise, Kibabii University is seeking to recruit a Deputy Vice Chancellor.
According to the public service commission, the University is looking for a Deputy Vice Chancellor to head the planning, partnership, Research, and innovation department.
Additionally, Karatina university has one vacant position which according to the commission is a re-advertisement.
The Institution is seeking to recruit a Deputy Vice Chancellor to oversee the planning, Finance and Administration of Karatina University.
Egerton University is also seeking to recruit a Deputy Vice Chancellor who will be responsible for the Administration, finance and planning of the institution.
Qualifications for the Vice Chancellor Post
To qualify for the position of a Vice Chancellor (VC), a candidate must hold the title of a professor with an earned PhD from a recognized university.
Also, the candidate should have served for a minimum period of five (5) years with demonstrable results at the level of Vice Chancellor or Deputy Vice-Chancellor of a University or a Principal of a university college.
The Candidate should have at least ten (10) years of academic and research experience with scholarly record demonstrated by refereed journal articles, university level books as well as project grants and awards.
Qualifications for the Deputy Vice Chancellor Post
According to the Public Service Commission, applicants for this post must be at least an Associate Professor with an earned PhD degree from a university recognized in Kenya.
In addition, interested candidates should have at least six years of demonstrable leadership in an academic and research institution.

Further, to qualify for this post, one must have served substantively with measurable results in a senior administrative position such as a Deputy Vice Chancellor, Deputy Principal, Dean/Director, Principal of a Constituent University/College of a University/Campus or leadership of comparable levels in other similar institutions.
Interested candidates must also fulfil the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010.
