The Government of Kenya has established 578 new administrative units across the country to improve citizens’ access to Government services and effectively address security issues in respective areas.
The administrative units established include 27 Sub-Counties, 59 Divisions, 170 Locations, and 322 Sub-locations.
Furthermore, the Ministry of Interior’s statement on its socials on Tuesday, November 26, stated in part, “Necessitated by population growth and to comply with the ministerial 2:1 ratio requirement, we have officially established 578 new administrative units across the country by gazettement.”
Further, the Gazette notice No.15341 read, “In exercise of the powers conferred by section 14 (1) of the National Government Co-ordination Act, 2013, the Cabinet Secretary for Interior and National Administration with the approval of the President establishes the following Administrative Units as Service Delivery to Co-ordination Units.”
