The government pathologist has revealed the cause of death of the two missing Mlolongo men, who were among the four abducted in December 2024.
While speaking to the media on Wednesday, February 5, Richard Njoroge stated that one of the victims, Justus Mutumwa, died from multiple abdominal, chest, and head injuries caused by a blunt object. He also had defence injuries on his arms, indicating a struggle.
“For the first body (Mutumwa), we observed multiple abdominal, chest, and head injuries, along with defence injuries on the arms.
It appears there was a struggle, as these types of injuries typically occur when someone tries to defend themselves,” Njoroge explained.
The second victim, Martin Mwau, died from strangulation.
“The second body (Mwau) was highly decomposed. The main findings included a scalp injury, posterior abdominal wall, and thoracic injuries. Additionally, injuries in the strap muscles of the neck led us to conclude that the cause of death was manual neck compression,” the pathologist added.
Two of Missing Mlolongo 4 Men Bodies Found
The bodies of Mutumwa and Mwau were retrieved separately on Thursday, January 30.
Justus Mutumwa’s body was discovered in Ruai, Nairobi County, as confirmed by family lawyer Dan Maanzo. Maanzo stated that his body was taken to City Mortuary, where his family positively identified it.
“We have confirmed that petitioner number one, Justus Mutumwa, has been found dead, and his body is at City Mortuary. A quick fingerprint check confirmed his identity. He was a petitioner in this particular case,” Maanzo said.

Mwau’s body was discovered at City Mortuary just hours after the slain Justus Mutumwa was found.
Justus Mutumwa, along with Stephen Mbisi Kavingu, Martin Zyuko Mwau, and Kalani Mwema, disappeared on December 16 and 17, 2024, in quick succession under unclear circumstances.
CS Muturi calls on end to abductions
The discovery of their bodies sparked public outrage, with both religious and political leaders calling for prompt investigations into their deaths.
Cabinet Secretary for Public Service, Justin Muturi, recently addressed the media at Nairobi City Mortuary regarding the abduction of the Mlolongo Four.
He expressed deep concern over the rising number of abductions and called for a commission of inquiry to investigate these incidents.

Muturi emphasized the need for a thorough probe and a national dialogue to address the issue, warning that failure to do so could lead to chaos.
He also urged President William Ruto to take immediate action to end the abductions.
“The buck stops with you, Mr. President. You are the President of Kenya and the Commander-in-Chief of the Defense Forces. Therefore, I am calling upon the President to take immediate action to end these abductions, as promised,” Muturi stated.
