Ministry of Interior and National Administration Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki has revoked death certificate and birth notifications following loss of registration materials at select county offices.
The Ministry in a public notice outlined the number of documents lost and the areas affected.
According to the state department the key documents used for birth notification registrations went missing at the Nyandarua Central offices.
“Civil Registration Services wishes to inform the general public of the loss of B1(Birth Notification Registration Booklets) which occurred in Nyandarua Central offices,” the statement read in part.
Govt Urge Affected Kenyans to Return the Birth Notifications
Likewise, the state department in the public notice identified that the office has lost 50 booklets of the Birth Notifications with serial number 9602501-9603750 and 9718751-9720000.

Following the loss of the stated documents, the government cautioned that all the birth notifications have been cancelled and rendered invalid.
“Consequently, the department hereby cautions the general public that the said B1 booklets have been cancelled thereby rendering them invalid,” the notice further reads.
The state department for civil registration has now called on Kenyans with the stated serial numbers to visit the office of the secretary for Civil Registration Services and return the birth notifications.
“Any person who may have been issued with the Birth Notification (B1) bearing any of the above serial numbers is advised to return it/them to the secretary Civil Registration Services,4th floor, Hass Plaza, lower hill,” read the notice in part.
Migori County Death Certificates Lost
On the other hand, the Civil Registration department also announced the loss of death certificates in Migori county offices.
The department in a public notice revealed they had lost twelve death certificate booklets.
“Civil registration Service wishes to inform the general public of loss of death certificate which occurred in Migori Offices,” read the notice in part.
The government further listed the serial numbers of death certificates lost including 1477500-1477600, 1477801-1477900, 1477901-1477800, 1527101-1527200,1568001-1568100.
Others are, 1568201-1568300, 1568301-1568400, 1568501-1568600, 1568601-1568700, 1568701-1568800, 1568801-1568900, 1568901-1569000.
Likewise, the department, while notifying the public of the loss, cautioned that the said documents have been cancelled and rendered invalid.
“Consequently, the department hereby cautions the general public that the said death certificates books have been cancelled thereby rendering them invalid,” read the notice.
Also, affected Kenyans have been directed to visit the state department offices with the Death Certificate.
“Any person who may have been issued with any Death Certificate bearing any of the above serial numbers is advised to return it /them to the secretary, Civil Registration Services, 4th floor, Hass plaza, lower hill,” read the notice.
