Harambee Stars defender Zak Vyner, officially known as Zachary George Onyego Vyner, has joined English Championship side Wrexham from Bristol City.
Zak Vyner was part of Bristol City’s squad before completing the transfer to Wrexham, and he has represented Kenya at the international level, playing in official matches for the Harambee Stars.
The move to Wrexham will see Vyner compete in the English Championship for the 2026 season.

Zak Vyner was born in Peckham, London, to a Kenyan mother and English father, giving him dual heritage eligibility for Harambee Stars.
He grew up in Bath, England, encouraged by a sporting family; his older brother played locally, inspiring Vyner’s early involvement in football with Bath Arsenal before joining the Bristol City academy.
Zak Vyner attended Beechen Cliff School, a boys’ secondary school in Bath, Somerset, England.
Joining Bristol City at the age of ten, he originally played as a winger before moving into the heart of defence during his time in the academy.
At the age of just 19, he made his first-team debut for the Robins during the 2015/16 season, before embarking on his first senior loan move in professional football with Accrington Stanley.

He ended up going on to make 19 appearances before returning in January 2016, with his next loan move coming twelve months later – joining League One side Plymouth Argyle.
Career Progression
Harambee Stars defender Zachary George Onyego Vyner made his professional debut for Bristol City at 18 on February 20, 2016, in a Championship match against MK Dons, and appeared four times in the 2015–16 season.
He spent the 2016–17 season on loan at Accrington Stanley in League Two, making 17 appearances, before returning briefly to Bristol City for a Championship outing. Vyner then joined Plymouth Argyle on loan in League One for the 2017–18 season, recording 17 appearances and scoring once.
Further loan spells included Rotherham United in the Championship during 2018–19, with 34 appearances, and Aberdeen in the Scottish Premiership for 2019–20, where he played 18 times and scored one goal.
Back at Bristol City, Vyner scored his first club goal in 2021 against Preston and captained the team in 2023 versus Swansea. Between 2020 and 2026, he accumulated 236 Championship appearances and 4 goals, setting a consecutive starts record in 2025.

Zak Vyner missed his Harambee Stars debut in 2024 due to registration issues stemming from delays in processing his Kenyan passport.
Called up on May 31, 2024, for World Cup qualifiers against Burundi and the Ivory Coast, he left camp early as his nationality change paperwork was not finalised in time.
Zak Vyner transferred permanently to Wrexham (EFL Championship) on February 1, 2026.
