The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) recently launched the Ushuru Mashinani Service initiative and has invited businesses to become partners and support in the provision of tax services.

An application to become a tax service provider partner, in accordance with the KRA, can be submitted by anyone with a computer and internet access at their business.

Businesses that qualify for the initiative will be responsible for bringing tax services closer to the grassroots levels.

“KRA needs you. Become a Ushuru Mashinani Service Partner and bring tax services closer to your community,” a statement by KRA read.

KRA Ushuru Mashinani Service Partners

Ushuru Mashinani Service will enable approved partners to assist individuals and businesses with essential tax services.

According to the authority, the initiative will reduce congestion at the KRA service center and shorten the time taxpayers spend waiting for the service.

Additionally, the initiative will enhance the tax service by promoting accessibility, efficiency, and customer friendliness.

The program is open for business service centers, entrepreneurs with access to computers and the internet, Cyber cafés, and ICT hubs, and existing KRA service providers looking to formalize their operations.

Potential applicants have verifiable businesses to ensure accountability during the registration in the program.

Applicants will be required to provide their full name and the address of the business during registration.

In addition, applicants will provide a registered business name or the trading name that is recognized.

A valid phone number and email address will also be provided during the process, and a KRA pin, either personal or business, is required for all applicants to be eligible.

The authority’s approval of applications will be based on the accuracy and up-to-date information provided by applicants.

All applications to become a Ushuru Mashinani Service Partner will be submitted online by completing an application form.

Digital Requirements

Businesses applying to become partners with the authority will be required to be digitally literate and to have access to devices that support the service delivery.

Reliable desktop or laptop computers that can access and process client requests from the authority system are essential to all partners.

Additionally, potential applicants must have stable, consistent internet access to ensure clients receive quality services.

Moreover, partners in the initiative are required to have access to printers and scanners to support documentation.

Applicants with prior experience in the tax service provision will have an advantage during the application process.
