The highly anticipated African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2024 Group A clash between Kenya and Zambia has seen overwhelming demand, with all 27,000 tickets made available by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) completely sold out.
This surge in fan interest reflects the incredible support for Harambee Stars, who continue to excite the nation with their performances on home soil.
However, the sold-out status of the match also brings fresh challenges. During Kenya’s last match against Morocco, which also had no tickets left by matchday, scores of fans without tickets attempted and forced their way into the Moi International Sports Centre (MISC), Kasarani.
While their passion is commendable, such actions risk not only personal safety but also Kenya’s growing reputation as a capable host of major international tournaments, such as the upcoming African Cup of Nations (AFCON) bid.
The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has since been fined $50 000 (about Ksh6.5 million) by the CAF Disciplinary Board over multiple safety and security breaches that occurred during the Morocco game.

This time, ahead of the decisive Kenya vs Zambia match on Saturday, August 17, organisers and football authorities are urging fans without tickets to stay away from the stadium and instead explore several safe, exciting, and fully official ways to be part of the action.

Just because you’re not in the stadium doesn’t mean you have to miss out. In fact, several alternatives have been set up to ensure every fan has a front-row seat to the action—wherever they are.
Watch the match live on TV or online
Football fans across Kenya can follow the match live and uninterrupted through officially licensed broadcasters:
- Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) – Will air all Harambee Stars matches, including the Kenya vs Zambia clash, live and free-to-air. Other matches KBC will air include the 3rd Place match scheduled for August 29 at the Mandela National Stadium, Namboole in Kampala, Uganda, and the CHAN 2024 final match scheduled for August 30, at MISC, Kasarani.

Security and crowd control measures will also be in place to ensure a safe experience for all attendees.
The passion Kenyan fans have shown during CHAN 2024 has been nothing short of phenomenal. However, storming stadiums or attempting illegal entry is strongly discouraged.
Not only does it pose safety risks, but it also undermines Kenya’s credibility as a host of international tournaments.
Authorities have emphasized that entry to the stadium will be strictly ticketed, and anyone without a valid ticket will be denied access. Police and stadium stewards will be on high alert to prevent a repeat of past incidents.
