On June 15, Huduma Kenya announced a power outage affecting its data center, resulting in a temporary disruption of services at Huduma Centers.
In a notice on Monday, June 15, 2026, Huduma Kenya explained that the outage has prevented it from providing services across its centers.
“Huduma Kenya wishes to inform the public that services are temporarily unavailable at Huduma Centers due to a power outage that affected our data center,” Huduma Kenya noted.
Following the disruption of service delivery, the agency has assured members of the public that the technical teams are working towards the restoration of service provision as soon as possible.
In addition, members of the public have been urged to remain patient as the team works to restore service, but the exact restoration time frame has not been specified.
Despite the assurance from the agency, some members of the public have expressed their dissatisfaction with the slow service provision, and some have suggested potential hacking of the data center.
Some members of the public have admitted to not knowing that the Huduma Centers have their own data centers, citing that something was happening around the centers without the knowledge of the public.
“Does Huduma have its own data center? In any case, that is not how data centers operate; we know what is happening, but we only observe,” Brian Juma commented regarding the temporary shutdown of the services.

Huduma Kenya Service Disruption
With Kenya having 57 Huduma Centers across the 47 counties that offer services to the public, the disruption is set to affect various service sectors.
Citizens are currently unable to access services including National ID card duplicates and replacements, passports, and birth and death certificates.
Business owners will also experience challenges in conducting business registrations, tax services, and e-government and public administration services.
In addition, the temporary disruption will affect access to the National Social Security Fund (NSSF) and the Social Health Insurance Fund registration and contribution services.
Further, slow revenue collection is expected from the fee-based government transactions processed at the centers on a day-to-day basis.
Civil case filing support, payment of court fines and deposits, issuance of summons, virtual court assistance, and case inquiries have also been affected following the disruption.
