Hezbollah member Muhammad Ali Shuweikh was struck in the Mansouri area in southern Lebanon by Israel Defense Forces (IDF) on Sunday, November 16, 2025.
The incident occurred amid ceasefire monitoring, which was happening between Israel and Lebanon, in what the IDF stated as a pursuit in action to prevent violations of the agreement.
“The IDF will continue to operate to remove any threat and defend the State of Israel,” IDF stated.
Shuweikh was Hezbollah’s local representative in Mansouri village near Tyre, which is a stronghold of the group in that part of Lebanon, before the drone strike happened.

Shuweikh’s responsibilities
- He served in coordinating financial and military activities between the group and residents.
- He helped in seizing private property for terrorist use, with the terrorists’ activities constituting a violation of the understandings between Israel and Lebanon.
This was part of the broader IDF efforts to counter and shun Hezbollah’s infrastructure build-up in the area, with some terror items seized.
In the strike, Ali was the only fatality reported and succumbed to injuries on his way to the hospital.

Conflicting Reports on Shuweikh’s Identity
The incident of Shuweikh’s killing has drawn great attention due to conflicting reports on his civilian role and his alleged ties to the militant group.
Some Lebanese media outlets, such as Al Mayadeen, have identified Shuweikh as a local school principal in Mansouri, portraying him as a civilian educator who was caught in the crossfire.
On the other hand, the IDF describes him as a key facilitator of the Hezbollah terrorist group, greatly contrasting his identity with such accusations so common in conflict areas where militants mingle with local communities.
This event occurs during the escalating US talks on Gaza stabilization and ongoing UN discussions, and till now, Hezbollah has not issued an official response, but local reports suggest heightened alert in southern Lebanese villages.
